National Principles for Environmental Information available

8 February 2016

The National Principles for Environmental Information were released in January 2016 by  the Australian Government Environmental Information Advisory Group to provide guidance to Australian government data custodians in the form of ten principles on how best to make data and information more discoverable, accessible and re-usable. Importantly the principles contain touchpoints to the National Environmental Information Infrastructure specifically in regard to promoting the adoption of the standards described in NEII Reference Architecture. Beyond the environmental information-focused NEII, the principles also note the importance of related Australian Government initiatives designed to improved transparency, accessibly and hence effectiveness of data including AusGoal and data.gov.au.
