The National Environmental Monitoring Sites Register (NEMSR), developed by the National Environmental Information Infrastructure (NEII) programme provides a nationally consistent approach to integrating environmental site data from across domains. The NEMSR is supported by a community-agreed information model, GeoJSON exchange format, web service endpoints and controlled vocabularies.

Converting monitoring site CSV format data into a GeoJSON format is now simpler using the new NEII converter tool. The tool enables National Environmental Monitoring Sites Register data custodians to convert CSV files into GeoJSON format before uploading to NEMSR.

The NEII team have developed a NEMSR Quick Guide which steps data custodians through the uploading process.

To support data on-boarding activities, improve system functionality and guide future technical and policy directions the NEII programme has also established the NEMSR Working Group. For further information about the workings of the group or to learn about potential candidates for inclusion in the NEMSR visit the web site.

Remember if you have environmental monitoring site data that you would like to include in the NEMSR send an email to environment@bom.gov.au
